Stephen Swatton, President, CEO and Director, is a field geologist by training who migrated to senior corporate positions through his 28-year career. He initially worked for Rio Tinto as a field geologist (1984-91). His last major corporate role was as Global Head of Business Development for BHP Billiton's Exploration Division. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Fortress Minerals Corp. and Southern Rio Resources Ltd. in the late 1990's and was a mining analyst for Yorkton Securities in the early to mid-1990's. Mr. Swatton holds a Masters of Science degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
Mario Garnero, Director, is Chairman and the principal shareholder of the Brasilinvest Group, a private merchant bank established in 1975. He became director of Volkswagen Brazil in 1979, chaired the National Automakers Association and subsequently chaired the National Confederation of Industries. He is recognized as one of Brazil's most accomplished entrepreneurs. Mr. Garnero holds a law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo.
The Hon. Herb Dhaliwal, Director, served as a Member of Parliament for over ten years. He served in the Federal Cabinet under Prime Minister Jean Chretien as Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Fisheries and Oceans. Pat Obara, CFO and Director, was Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Uranium Energy Corp., a NYSE-MKT listed company, from August 2006 to January 2011 and currently serves as Vice President Administration of Uranium Energy Corp. He has consulted to several private and publicly listed companies providing various services in the areas of corporate finance, management and administration. Mr. Obara has served as the Chief Financial Officer and a director of several public companies listed on the TSXV. He holds a degree in Building Technology, Land and Construction Economics, from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in British Columbia.
David Kong, Director, Mr. Kong holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from Taiwan and earned his Chartered Accountant designation in British Columbia in 1978 and U.S. CPA (Illinois) designation in 2002. From 1981 to 2004, he was a partner at Ellis Foster Chartered Accountants. Mr. Kong was also a partner of Ernst & Young from 2005 to 2010. Currently Mr. Kong is a director of Hana Mining Ltd., Channel Resources Ltd., CIBT Education Group Inc. New Pacific Metals Corp. and Uranium Energy Corp.
Gloria Ballesta, Director, Ms. Ballesta was paralegal for Uranium Energy Corp., a NYSE MKT listed company, since May 2010 to December 2012. Ms. Ballesta has experience working in North American, European and Latin American business environments and has direct experience working with Canadian listed public companies holding interests in Latin America. Ms. Ballesta has experience managing administrative and compliance procedures for spin-offs, take-overs and financings of various Canadian public companies. Ms. Ballesta holds an LLB (Hons.) degree in Law from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Spain and a Masters degree in Marketing and Business Management from ESIC School of Business in Spain.
Paulo Pereira, Vice President - Exploration, Mr. Pereira has over 25 years of experience in exploration and development of mining projects in Brazil and Canada. He worked as a geologist for the De Beers Group for twenty years and served for more than ten years as Senior Project Manager and Divisional Manager for Canada. Mr. Pereira holds a Bachelors degree in Geology from Universidade do Amazonas in Brazil and is a Qualified Person as defined in NI-43-101 and a member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.
